A new truck for the Food Banks, Social Innovation in the spotlight and a Culinary Competition for students

  • On Tuesday 7th of November, the Food bank of Eure-et-Loir inaugurated with the Carrefour Foundation a new refrigerated small truck.


The Carrefour Foundation supported the purchase of this new refrigerated vehicle that will enable the Eure-et-Loir Food Bank to collect fresh products donated in the food shops of the French department. The truck will collect unsold products in the Carrefour Market of the city Chartres every day.

Carrefour is the first private donor to the Food Bank in France, including the Food Bank of Eure-et-Loir. The Carrefour stores are donating daily to associations and in 2016, they donated 11 239 tons of food products to the Food Banks, so to speak 22.5 millions of meals.

The Carrefour Foundation is also supporting logistically the Food Banks to facilitate the transport of products, especially fresh products, and their storage in cold rooms.

In 2016, a financial support of €167.000 enabled the Food Banks to buy 9 refrigerated trucks and to implement a “Food Health and Safety” training.

Inauguration in the presence of the Mayor of Chartres, Jean-Pierre Gorges, the president of the Eure-et-Loir Food Bank et the director of the Carrefour Market of Chartres.


  • On the 8th of November, Ticket for Change and the Carrefour Foundation organized in collaboration with the Carrefour Innovation team, an event about social innovations at the Massy headquarters


8 entrepreneurs supported by the NGO talked about their projects related to solidarity food:  Meet my Mama, Ciboulette, Drive Tout Nu, Les Petites Cantines, Entraid’Union, Les ReToqués, Entomojo. Les Petites Cantines and les ReToqués are directly supported by the Carrefour Foundation since March 2017.

Since 2016, the Carrefour Foundation and Ticket for Change are working together to find and support social innovations in the solidarity food sector.

Created in 2014, Ticket for Change aims at revealing individual talents to change society by enhancing entrepreneurship spirit through training programs on leadership and entrepreneurship, in order to activate the new generation of agents of change.
