Until 2021, the Restos du Cœur were buying 27 million category 3 eggs (eggs from caged hens) each year. A difficult model for the animals' living arrangements. In France, caged hens account for 47% of egg production but will be banned in 2025. The Restos du Cœur, concerned about the well-being of the animals and the quality of the products distributed, have completely abandoned the purchase and distribution of eggs from caged hens from winter 2021.
Objective 1: responsible sourcing
Objective 3: Distribution and consumption
A final result was achieved by the Restos du Coeur, in 2021, by the total removal of plastic dishes during the distribution and consumption of meals, despite the "unrivalled price of plastic". Today, it is 100% biosourced dishes that ensure the continuity of activities.
